NEWS RELEASE 6/25/04

SWIMMING POOL SITE & GRADING PLANS

I am a registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in New York and New Jersey. I have been reviewing and sealing pool prints for more than 15 years.

My services to the pool industry will now include making site and grading plans, that include topographic surveys, and establish pool heights during construction.

A sample site and grading plan is enclosed

Many of you are aware that I invented the winterizing plug with the nylon wing nut 25 years ago. This product is still being manufactured by my son, Steve Meserlian, at Technical Products Co., (973) 227-7635.

Many of you are also aware of my reputation in the swimming pool industry as a competent engineer who works with the pool builders to resolve issues promptly with municipal engineers and building officials.

This competency and prompt service will also be provided whenever you require site and grading plans ,that include topographic surveys of existing conditions, required to properly locate swimming pools, for construction stake-out, in order to insure the health and safety of the public. Stormwater detention requirements of municipalities are included whenever required by municipalities.

Note: The NJ Engineering Law (N.J.S.A. 45:8-28(e) only gives land surveyors the exclusive right to establish "property, lot, easement or right-of-way lines". The law also specifies that site plans for an engineering project, such as a swimming pool, can only be prepared by either a licensed professional engineer or architect. The Municipal Land Use law requires that site plans include both the existing and proposed topography. Although topographic surveys can be prepared by a surveyor, they do not have the exclusive right to provide the existing topographic survey for my "Site & Grading Plans" that are required for construction "stake-out" of an engineering project such as a swimming pool installation.
