VOSI PUBLIC SAFETY STANDARD V40.1
FOR
SAFE SWIMMING POOL DIVING
1. SCOPE
1.1 To establish a minimum diving depth
and maximum age that will allow safe diving for inground
pools.

3. TERMINOLOGY
3.1 Safe Diving Pool (Children) - a
swimming pool designed in accordance with Refs. 2.1 thru 2.3,
with a maximum diving age of 14 years and 5' minimum when
diving depth from the pool edge.
3.2 Safe Diving Pool (Adults) - a
minimum hopper depth of 10'-0" when designed in
accordance with Refs. 2.1 thru 2.3 with a maximum permissible
slope from the shallow end being ½.
3.2 Diving Depth from Pool Edge - a 5'
minimum depth is required when diving from the pool edge.
4. SIGNIFICANCE & USE
4.1 Avoid lawsuits by establishing a maximum
safe diving age and minimum diving depth from the pool edge.
4.2 Prevent needless diving related injuries.
