1.1 To specify the ANSI/NSPI-5 and ANSI/NSPI-1 standards for residential inground and public swimming pools to insure the public's health and safety.

1.2 To specify Voices of Safety International (VOSI) slip resistance requirements (VOSI V41.23E) for both above ground and inground swimming pool decks.

4. SIGNIFICANCE & USE

4.1 The following notes must be on all residential inground swimming pool prints sealed by professional engineers:

4.1.1 Swimming pools must meet design safety and health requirements of ANSI/NSPI - 5 for residential swimming pools type___ 
        Note: Diving equipment is prohibited on Type 0 pools

4.1.2 Swimming pools decks must meet slip & trip resistance requirements of VOSI V41.23E (see www.voicesofsafety.com ..."Public Safety")

4.1.3 Pour minimum of 4" thick concrete collar around the entire base of the pool perimeter (vinyl liner pools)

4.1.4 Enclose pool per IBC 2000,appendix chapter 4-1, "Swimming Pool Enclosures"

4.2 The following notes must be on all public swimming pool prints sealed by professional engineers:

4.2.1 Swimming pools must meet design safety and health requirements of ANSI/NSPI-1 for public swimming pools type____

4.2.2 Same as 4.1.2

4.3 Building Officials must obtain certification from the pool contractor that the deck material meets the VOSI V41.23E slip resistance requirements; and insure that International Building Code (IBC Appendix 4-1) swimming pool enclosure requirements are met.

4.4 Pool prints, in lieu of notes 4.1.1 - 4.1.4, shall state as the first note: "Pools & enclosures per VOSI V41.23F; http://www.voicesofsafety.com . . "Public Safety" 

4.5 Pool contractors shall provide building officials with copies of VOSI V41.23E, and V41.23F and letters which explain this new process.
